The West Virginia Motor Truck Association is a statewide, non-profit, association of trucking companies, private fleet operators, industry suppliers, and other firms and individuals interested in the well-being of motor transportation at the local, state and national level.
 
 The mission of the WVMTA is to serve and represent the interests of the trucking industry with One United Voice by:

Promoting safety and security on our highways and among our drivers;

Advancing the trucking industry’s image;

Providing educational programs;

Influencing in a positive manner state governmental actions; and

80% of Vehicle Crashes Involve Distracted Driving

West Virginia drivers should eliminate unnecessary distractions while operating a vehicle, urged representatives from the West Virginia Motor Truck Association.  

“Eighty percent of vehicle crashes involve some form of distracted driving,” said Jan Vineyard, President of the West Virginia Motor Truck Association.  “Simple things, such as reducing the amount of time spent talking on the cell phone or fumbling with the radio, can significantly cut down on roadway accidents and the pain and costs that accompany them.”

Dealing with diesel: Truckers' rising fuel costs affect us all

We've all seen the prices at the pump skyrocket during the past year, but the cost of fuel doesn't stop when you fill up your car's tank. Because trucks haul virtually all consumer goods in the United States, rising fuel costs increase the cost of everything transported by truck, including food, clothing and medical supplies.

In West Virginia, trucking employs more than 40,000 people and transports 100 percent of all consumer goods. In other words, if you eat it, wear it or depend on it, a truck probably brought it. Accordingly, trucking is an essential part of our economy, and the rising price of fuel is affecting the price of consumer goods more and more each day.

John Hodges, UPS Freight Named Grand Champion
 
Charleston, WV – Hurricane resident and professional truck driver John Hodges was named Grand Champion of the West Virginia Motor Truck Association’s Truck Driving Championship, held Saturday, May 10 in Charleston, association representatives announced. Hodges, a driver for UPS Freight in Nitro, West Virginia, took the top honor after competing in variety of skill and safety tests.
